Samsic UK’s Commercial Director, Jonathan Mackie, explores the impact facilities companies are having against Covid.
Until 2020 workspace hygiene was one of those things that building occupiers didn’t take much notice of. They knew whether a building was clean and tidy, whether their washrooms were clean and consumable stocks adequate. But they likely never considered the importance of hygiene standard and security. Some cleaning companies probably didn’t either. They thought that their role was to maintain a visual appearance of cleanliness, an illusion of hygienic spaces.
2020 has changed all that, building occupiers are likely to be asking and expecting as a right that their cleaning suppliers maintain clean but also hygienically safe and secure environments. People will be much more demanding of cleaning providers to ensure their workplaces are clean and secure, that when they are in their workspace they won’t be exposed to covid or other viruses. Hygiene security will impact psychological behaviours, creating workspace confidence and morale.
More than just cleaners
We’ve always seen our role as more than simply cleaners and recognised the impact our services have not only on the safety and security of the workspace but also how our customers occupy their buildings, how the cleanliness of their buildings contributes to the morale of their staff, their absence and retention rates and their corporate self-esteem.
Our expertise in hygiene security is based on some critical operational wiring. We train our staff in approved task techniques using the BICSc standards. We also developed our own Organised Workflow methodology to systemise hygiene security as part of routine cleaning. All our service colleagues are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to achieve safe and secure workspaces for our customers.
Industry-leading innovation
We design our services using applied industry-leading innovations. One advantage Samsic has over other cleaning companies is our international reach. We are able to harness and introduce innovations that have been successful in any part of the Samsic European business, giving us first mover advantage in many of the innovations that our competitors are only now introducing. Our Innovation Playbook provides our service teams with a go-to handbook where they can select site specific innovations. This includes use of LEAN techniques, innovations in materials and equipment and products and processes including nano-coating and artificial intelligence solutions. Our AI solutions create digitally led cleaning where we are able to flex cleaning based on occupancy use, need and hygiene demands.
Hygiene security is Samsic’s way of life. Our approach helps our customers to work in comfort and with self-confidence, knowing that we will never ignore the hygiene needs of their sites.
